General summary:

Mermaid Crossing, Suite 4 has a stellar location to relax and relax ALL year round! This first floor unit/second row home sits just across the street from a beach access and is less than a hundred steps to fun in the sun! The suite is roughly four blocks from downtown Carolina Beach and everything that is has to offer.

Our suites offer keyless entry, to minimize person to person contact. We have implemented new protocols for the current circumstances to welcome our guests to a safe and clean environment. We have added a multistage system air treatment system with UV light to reduce airborne bacteria, germs, viruses, plant pollen, dust and mold pores. As a result, we no longer provide linens. We want to be able to provide our valued guests with a safe memorable beach hideaway experience.

The space;

The suite is located in the heart of Carolina Beach and is within walking distance to downtown and all of its attractions. The location is a short walk from the Carolina Beach Boardwalk, eateries, and local stores (don't forget Britt's Famous Donuts)! If you like adventures, the marina is also a few blocks away where you can take an offshore fishing trip or event boat out for a sunset sail. Camping more your thing? Bring the 4X4 and drive (and camp) on the beach at Freeman Park, located on the North End of the island. The Carolina Beach Lake is close by, hosting the Farmer’s Market every Saturday, FIREWORKS every Thursday, and summer outdoor movies on Sunday (on a sizable inflatable screen in the middle of the lake!). We welcome you to sit back, relax and savor yourselves because that's exactly what the beach is for!

These suites are a mixture of the original “period” construction and old world appeal, with a kiss of shabby-chic modernity and today's technology because hey, there’s got to be something for everybody! Each suite has its own distinct traits, quirks, and characteristics.

The entry to this 1 bedroom, 1 bath suite opens up into a combined kitchen with an open dining area that has a entirely equipped kitchen (stove+oven, refrigerator). The kitchen is outfitted will all of the basic cooking and dining silverware one can expect (plates, bowls, cups, silverware, etc.). In addition, there is a microwave, toaster, and coffee maker ready to help make yourself at home (and on Vacay!). Courtesy shower/shampoo, and conditioner are left in the bathroom of each suite as well as TP, garbage bags, dish soap, a broom, and sponge in each kitchen.

Most bedroom beds consist of a new encased 8” memory foam/cooling gel composition bed because we want all of our guests to be comfortable when it comes time to recharge. The pull-out couches that can fit/support a memory foam pad are also accommodated with such! (Always bear in mind, although comfortable, a pull-out couch/futon for a longer-term tenant may/may not provide ideal support!) Remember, linens are NOT supplied, however, you can bring them from home with you, buy them (Wal-Mart in Wilmington), or rent them (Oceanside Linens & Units).

There are 2 intelligent TVs (with approx. 25 channels through the Charter Spectrum cable) along with an ORBI router WIFI computer connection for when it's time to sit back and appreciate some movies or shows after a long day at the beach! There is complimentary Netflix to watch movies. We do not provide a pin for the Roku TVs so please do NOT request one. We also have some games to savor some family game time when the weather is bit dreary for the beach. Sometimes however, these items are removed from the suite and not replaced and we do not realize it (tsk tsk!).

If you notice something we’ve bragged about is missing please let us know!!!

The outdoor shower is located on the lower left of the building to help get that sand off of those toes!

Guest access;

Guests have full access to their own private suite (never shared) along with a respective deck, patio, balcony, or yard. Each suite can vary slightly in archetype but what’s private to each guest or is a common area for all to share is comfortably recognizable. Feel complimentary to reach out for any specific needs or clarifications! Each guest will also have access to one assigned parking space. For additional spaces, please refer to our list of parking suggestions.

Other things to note;

-ALL suites are non-smoking (including vaping) and a heavy cleaning/repair charge can result if not adhered to.

-Linens (sheets/towels) are NOT part of the suite rental. If you prefer to bring your own or rent linens, we partner with “Oceanside Linens & Units” for any guests looking to rent a linen package (sheet sets, towels, etc.) as opposed to bringing or buying your own. Although the hyper link will be blocked by this site, a simple web search can yield their contact information. They will deliver directly into the suite in advance of your stay!

-Quiet(er) hours begin at 9:00pm EST. We host many families of all ages so we ask all our guests to be considerate, and enjoy the heck out of yourselves!

-NO BBQ’ing on ANY decks or porches. This is a giant fire hazard and is fineable (along with removing smoke/Co2 alarms). We work extremely hard to keep all of our guests safe, and sometimes that takes teamwork!

-Parking: Please refer to your welcome e-mail for specifics with regards to parking. We have one designated space that comes with each rental. OVERSIZED trucks and cars will always have tight fits on the island wherever they go (just an FYI!). For additional spaces, please refer to our local parking lot list.

-For a complete FOODIE RECOMMENDATION list, TV instructions, local Flora and Fauna, etc., please refer to the welcome binder located in each suite. Here are a few misc. additions’ we’ve been inquired about often this past summer prior to booking;

-Nearest Laundromat: Melissa’s Laundry @ 702 S Lake Park Blvd Carolina Beach NC 28428

-Nearest Fresh Seafood (prepare yourself): Blackburn Brothers Seafood @ 440 N Lake Park Blvd Carolina Beach NC 28428

-Local Additional Parking: Harbor Master Parking Lot @ 309 Carolina Beach Ave N Carolina Beach NC 28428, Alabama Meter Lot & Public Access @ 1622 S Lake Park Blvd Carolina Beach NC 28428, Macks Parking Lot @ 104 Charlotte Ave Carolina Beach NC 28428

-Please always consider TRAVEL INSURANCE from your respective booking site or vendor to help protect your $ in case of inclement weather or last min. travel complications (court, illness, etc.). These items are NOT returnable scenarios, regardless of scale unless the property itself is compromised. If that does happen, we will do our absolute best to find you alternative housing. When advanced enough notice is supplied with regards to a cancellation request, we try and refill the suite to help a renter in need break their rental agreement. If we can, we help break said lease regardless of cancellation policy for a full refund. LIFE HAPPENS to us all. But a tough day at the beach is better than a tough day most everywhere else!-Carolina Beach Town Hall supplies, where available, beach wheel chairs that can traverse the sand without charge. Please reach out to the Recreation Center for additional information.

The neighborhood;

The building itself is one row away from the ocean, and two rows in from the Intracoastal Waterway. The property is set four blocks from downtown Carolina Beach with its stores, activities and dining. There are fireworks during the summer every Thursday nighttime, Movies at the lake each Sunday nighttime, and local fairs around the lake each Saturday morning (refer to for additional info!). Carolina Beach is a mix of friendly locals, snowbirds, and visitors all looking to escape the inland and enjoy the sand, surf, and ambiance. We really have an striking community!

Carolina Beach and the surrounding neighborhood offers an array of sights and activities to enjoy while here. Some of these examples are (but not limited to) a subtle beach hike through Carolina Beach State Park, Finishing on the Kure Beach Pier, Kayaking to one of the many islands surrounding the Intracoastal Waterway, watching canons blast during a historical reenactment at the Fort Fisher State Historic Site, or petting some Sting Rays at the North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher. This doesn’t even include the aweing scenery of Airlie Gardens, and our very own battleship (USS NC) in Wilmington! Perhaps more calming and less “adventure” is your speed. Our own local Brewery (Good Hops) along with a round of Frisbee golf may be a great time.

And between the beach and Downtown Wilmington, boy do we have FOOD, Festivals, and good times!

Getting around;

Food, dining, and a multitude of outdoor activities are all well within walking distance. Downtown Carolina Beach has a number of vendors (such as Pleasure Island Units @ 2 N Lake Park Blvd Carolina Beach NC 28428 and Tony Silvagni Surf School @ 101 Cape Fear Blvd Carolina Beach NC 28428) that offer golf carts, paddleboards, surfboards, kayaks, and bicycles for rent as an alternative to driving. Taxi’s and Uber’s are always available for an assist when needed as well throughout the island! You can catch a Ferry to Southport in Kure Beach @ 2422 Fort Fisher Blvd S Kure Beach which leads to another ferry to Bald Head Island where NO CARS are allowed!

Walk, crawl (hopefully mainly the kids!), bicycle, swim, paddle, drive, Uber… you name it.

Strategies to get the perfect Wrightsville Beach vacation rental experience:

When to go & When to book:

  • June, July, and August are high season in Carolina Beach. Booking your Wrightsville Beach vacation home in the Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Wrightsville Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • In the Wrightsville Beach area, The earlier your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best properties are booked very early. Reserving your rental home 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
  • Some owners offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group.
  • Booking websites frequently offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Often, management companies supply Wrightsville Beach area visitors guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Wrightsville Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Start by choosing the best vacation week and a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Mermaid Crossing Suite 4 has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible online. Otherwise, call the property owner before booking the vacation home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to determine what bed configuration is best for your vacation group.
  • If there's a particular Wrightsville Beach beach you are enamored with, look for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Request specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.

Advice for your stay:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Make a record of any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be useful if a dispute is filed.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, television set or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many concerns.
  • Be respectful. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let burglars spoil your family vacation.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all belongings. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the host isn't available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on good feedback to inspire future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests.In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
