Tips and Tricks to get the optimal vacation home experience:

Get the most from your spending budget:

  • Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Oak Island. Booking your Wrightsville Beach vacation home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is our best tip for saving money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
  • Property management companies usually offer renters an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Often, property management companies supply Wrightsville Beach area visitors guides which include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Wrightsville Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Selecting the perfect vacation rental:

  • Begin by choosing vacation dates and a max budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. “The Almost” A dog friendly, beach getaway has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally available on booking websites. If they are not listed, email the host before reserving the property. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to establish what configuration is best for your vacation group.
  • Some properties allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property manager about your furry family members before booking.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Be sure you get the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few concerns.
  • Lock your rental while you're out. Keep your property safe!
  • Upon check-in, make note of any damages to the property and immediately alert the host. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are an excellent source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can often help. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • On check-out day, complete a walk-through to make sure you have not forget any personal items. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
  • Did you have a fantastic stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
