Booking the best rental experience:

When to visit Oak Island & When to book:

  • Summer time is high season in the Wrightsville Beach area. Booking in Spring or Fall is an excellent way to save on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Wrightsville Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • The earlier you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved very early. Booking your vacation property six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
  • Some hosts offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group.
  • Property managers typically offer customers an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guides have coupons for nearby shops and restaurants.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Choose your dates and budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. SANDY TAILS - Oak Island, NC has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the property management company before reserving your home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental home.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking
  • Some properties allow pets, but others don't. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the owner about allowable breeds and types before booking.

Tips for a fantastic stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
  • During check-in, note any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors disrupting your home life. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let crooks ruin your vacation.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all of your things. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental one final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a great time? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
