How to find the best rental home experience:

Get the best rental value:

  • To get the best value, try shifting your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer excellent weather, , and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Wrightsville Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • The sooner your group can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are reserved very early. Booking your rental home six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Property managers frequently offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Many management companies supply Wrightsville Beach area visitors guides which include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Wrightsville Beach area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

How to select the best vacation rental in Oak Island:

  • Start by choosing potential vacation weeks and a max budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Sands About Right\n has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is usually available online. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property management company before you reserve the home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds.
  • If there's a certain Wrightsville Beach beach you simply love, look for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the host about allowable breeds and types before booking.

Have a great stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Save the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
  • Note any issues with the property at check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are valuable if a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of issues.
  • Respect your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're out! Don't let thieves ruin your vacation.
  • At departure, complete a final walk-through to confirm you didn't leave anything behind. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did you have a wonderful vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
