How to book the best Oak Island vacation rental experience:
When to visit & When to book:
- To book the most suitable rental within your budget, we recommend booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular Wrightsville Beach attractions. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Property managers sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites typically offer guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Many rental management companies supply Wrightsville Beach area visitor guide magazines which include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Wrightsville Beach area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Selecting and booking the rightvacation home:
- First and foremost, have your group commit to date ranges and a spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Oceanfront Dog-Friendly Vacation Rental – Breathtaking Views & Spacious Decks! has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly accessible online. If not, email the host before booking the rental. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches. You will need to establish what configuration is right for your vacation group.
- If there's a certain Wrightsville Beach beach you are crazy about, keep an eye out for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
- If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to book a rental that allows animals. Get details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
Considerations for your stay:
- Be sure you get the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home. Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Record any issues with the property during check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be beneficial if damages are assessed.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of concerns.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Keep your rental home locked while you're gone! Don't let crooks spoil your vacation.
- Double-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental a final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, take pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Did your group have a fantastic time? Many rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
