At BHI Vacations, we want to ensure you have the best possible experience during your visit. Please note that while some homes may provide bicycles or beach towels, we do not maintain or guarantee their availability.

The Bald Head Island Club and Shoals Club operate independently from BHI Vacations, and guest memberships must be purchased directly through each club. Availability varies by home listing, and during the summer season, memberships may sell out quickly. To avoid disappointment, we strongly recommend securing your club membership as early as possible.

Additionally, the Bald Head Island ferry system is independently operated and not affiliated with BHI Vacations. To ensure a smooth arrival and departure, we encourage guests to book ferry and tram reservations well in advance.

Tricks and tips to get the best Wrightsville Beach vacation property experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • The sooner you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation rental six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
  • Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. To find the best value, change your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Property managers typically offer guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Many management companies supply Wrightsville Beach area travel guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Wrightsville Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

How to pick the perfect vacation home in the Wrightsville Beach area:

  • Begin by choosing trip dates and a maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your family requires. Beautifully renovated 3 bedroom home in Surfman's Walk near East Beach! has 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available on booking pages. Otherwise, email the property owner before booking the property. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to determine what configuration is suitable for your vacation.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly rental. Get details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, property managers charge additional pet fees.
  • If there's a specific Wrightsville Beach beach you are crazy about, keep an eye out for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

Advice for a wonderful stay:

  • Put the owner's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, television set or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent a lot of problems.
  • Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • Record any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if there is a dispute.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your peace and quiet. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager is not available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent feedback to inspire new reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
