You have the whole property to yourself with an simple keypad check-in!

The property
The home is on the 800 block in the city of Wilmington's downtown historic Castle Street district. It has thick bushes surrounding the front and sides of the home and a driveway on either side (the neighbor’s driveways) which provides distance between the neighbor’s homes. We have blinds and sheer curtains to let in light, yet provide privacy. It has a sunny fenced in backyard with a tall privacy fence, high trees along the back to give more privacy from the home behind us, string lights, fire pit & Adirondack chairs, and a picnic table. Appreciate hanging out by the fire or dining outside after a long day exploring the area. See photos for a better picture of what city living looks like.

The neighborhood
Our home is located in the up and coming Castle Street Antique & Arts district. This is a trendy place for VRBOs (because of the walkability to modest businesses) and know of 3 VRBOs on our block alone & about 10 within a few blocks of us!

We’re a part of the Castle Street Collective which is a group of modest business owners on Castle Street, VRBOs in our neighborhood, and the neighbors who work together with the city of Wilmington to develop & beautify our historic arts and antiques neighborhood.

Downtown Wilmington is considered an urban area & offers a lively experience compared to close by peaceful beach towns. It is the 8th biggest city in North Carolina. Our street is not a main street like Market or Dawson & does not have a lot of car traffic. Like in many cities, there are people walking, cycling, or hanging out outside. We provide sound machines in each bedroom if you’d like to use them at nighttime. We appreciate & are proud of our inclusive vibrant neighborhood, and bring our infant and toddler often to appreciate what the city has to offer while still being within a fast drive to the beach. However, we understand everybody has different comfort levels when they are traveling to new places. If you’re not looking for a lively city experience, I recommend staying in smaller towns. Wrightsville or Carolina beach are quieter because they’re not within walking distance of the downtown or modest businesses. This cuts down on foot traffic and noise because everybody has to use their car to get around.

A humongous perk of staying in downtown Wilmington is you’re getting a great value by being a 20 min. drive to the beach, rather than paying a premium for beach front property. The other giant perk is you can savor the beach by day and city life by nighttime. If downtown Wilmington is what you’re looking for, we’d adore to host you!

Tricks and tips for getting the best rental home experience:

How to get the best value:

  • To find the best value, change your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warmer weather, , and reduced traffic.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer special rates for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group.
  • Property managers usually offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guides have coupons for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Select a group lead, choose your dates, and choose a spending budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Bright Coastal Bungalow: firepit, kid friendly, walk to Castle Street & downtown has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is normally available on booking websites. If not, reach out to the property owner before reserving the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to determine what configuration is right for your vacation.
  • Looking for special amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental home.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Some rentals allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property management company about your furry family members before booking.

Advice for a wonderful stay:

  • Add the owner's information to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Upon arrival, make note of any issues with the property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, television set or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of difficulties.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often an excellent source for finding the best local spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the rental one final time and look for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, take photographs of the property to record its condition.
  • Did you have a excellent time? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
