Strategies for getting the best Oak Island rental experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summertime is high season in Oak Island. To get the best value, change your family's Wrightsville Beach trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer excellent temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Wrightsville Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property managers usually offer renters an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
  • Look for your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines have coupons for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.

Narrow your Search:

  • Select vacation dates and maximum budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Timeless Oceanfront Cottage Near Pier with Grill & Fishing Station has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is normally available on booking pages. If not, contact the property management company before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to establish what is right for your vacation group.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but others don't. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
  • Looking for special amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .

Additional considerations:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, television set or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent a lot of concerns.
  • Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are away, just like you would at home.
  • Document any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are valuable if damages are assessed.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors bothering your peaceful home. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Upon check-out, complete a final walk-through to confirm you haven't leave anything behind. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on good feedback to propel future reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
