Our top Oak Island rental booking tips:
When to visit Oak Island & When to book:
- Summer months are the most expensive season in coastal NC. To book the most suitable rental home within your budget, we suggest reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite Wrightsville Beach restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Property managers sometimes offer special rates for veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Wrightsville Beach area visitor guides that include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Wrightsville Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
How to choose the best vacation home in the Wrightsville Beach area:
- Select a group lead, select your vacation dates, and choose a spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Sun&Fun360 2nd Row East Sunrise Facing Unit B has 3 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available online. If not, reach out to the property management company before reserving the home. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property management company about pets before booking.
Considerations for your stay:
- Add the property manager's information to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Make a record of any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents a lot of problems.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors bothering your peaceful home. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would've never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the property to confirm you've collected everything. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental one final time and look for damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on great ratings to drive new bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
