Our top Oak Island vacation rental tips:

When to book a Wrightsville Beach rental & When to go:

  • Summer is the most expensive season in Oak Island. To get the most suitable vacation home within budget, we suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular Wrightsville Beach attractions and restaurants. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Wrightsville Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • In the Wrightsville Beach area, The sooner you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved very early. Booking your vacation home up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Property management companies frequently offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Wrightsville Beach area visitor guide magazines which include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Wrightsville Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • First, have your family select trip dates and a max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. Second Chances: Short distance to the surf! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, call the property owner before reserving the property. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds.
  • If there's a particular Wrightsville Beach beach you are enamored with, search for properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or costs might be applied to your agreement.

During your stay:

  • Add the owner's contact information to your phone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • To make certain that no damages are attributed to your visit, inspect the property for any problem areas during check in. text the property manager immediately to record any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, intercom or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents many problems.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a great resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Re-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed everything at check-out. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your family have a fantastic vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
