How to find the best vacation home experience:

When to visit & When to book:

  • In the Wrightsville Beach area, The earlier your group can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are booked early. Booking your rental property six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
  • Summertime is the most expensive season in Oak Island. To find the best value, consider changing your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer great weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Wrightsville Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Some property managers offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
  • Booking websites often offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Many management companies supply Wrightsville Beach area visitor guide magazines that include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Wrightsville Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Filter your rental search:

  • First, have your group select vacation dates and a budget.
  • Screened Porch & Bikes
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally accessible online. If they are not listed, email or call the host before booking the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to determine which bed configuration is best for your vacation group.
  • Some rentals allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask your host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
  • If there's a certain Wrightsville Beach beach you long to visit, look for properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .

More considerations:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Add a note with the directions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Note any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are valuable if a dispute is filed.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers disrupting your home life. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Re-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a wonderful vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
