Tricks and tips to get the best vacation home experience:
Finding the best value:
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Carolina Beach. To get the best rental within your budget, we highly recommend booking in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at Wrightsville Beach restaurants, tours, and activities.
- Some owners offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your group.
- Property management companies frequently offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides contain discounts for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Begin by selecting your a vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Sea La Vie on the Boardwalk & Ocean has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Wrightsville Beach rental home search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available on booking pages. If not, contact the property management company before booking the home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You will need to establish which bed configuration is best for your family.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the host about your furry family members before booking.
- Are you visiting for a single event? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Know before you go:
- Be sure you get the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
- Upon check-in, record any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a great resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all belongings. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your group have a terrific time? Many rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
