Tips and Tricks to get the best Wrightsville Beach rental home experience:

Sticking to a spending budget:

  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summertime is high season in Oak Island. Booking your vacation home in the Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Some property managers offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Booking websites frequently offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Look for your local Wrightsville Beach area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines contain discounts for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

How to choose the best rental home in Oak Island:

  • Select dates and maximum budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Sawyer's Shore Shack: Spacious, Modern Second Row Beach Home on the West End has 6 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property management company before reserving the vacation property. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or may be applied to your agreement.
  • If there's a particular Wrightsville Beach beach you are enamored with, keep an eye out for properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

Tips to have a great stay:

  • Get the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, intercom or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent lots of difficulties.
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are away, just like you would at home.
  • Make a record of any issues with the property at check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are valuable if there is a dispute.
  • Respect your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, ensure that you take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a fantastic time? Many rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
