How to get the best vacation home experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Booking your vacation home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is a good way to save on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Wrightsville Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your group qualifies for a discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Wrightsville Beach area visitor guides which often include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Selecting the perfect vacation home in the Wrightsville Beach area:

  • Begin by selecting your vacation dates and a spending budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Pet friendly, short walk to beach, super clean has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly accessible online. Otherwise, email the host before reserving the rental. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Some properties allow pets, but others don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask your host about pets before booking.
  • If there's a particular Wrightsville Beach attraction you long to visit, browse homes that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.

More tips for your stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Add a note with the instructions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of difficulties.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're out! Don't let thieves ruin your trip.
  • To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your stay, make note of any problem areas upon check in. Contact the host immediately to record any issues. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all of your things. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your family have a great vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
