Tricks and tips to get the perfect Sunset Beach vacation home experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer months are high season in the Wrightsville Beach area. To find the best vacation home within your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
  • Property managers typically offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local Wrightsville Beach visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guide magazines contain money saving offers on local restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Planning and choosing the right Wrightsville Beach rental:

  • Begin by choosing the best vacation week and a max budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration you need. Pelican Hub, a beach house in beautiful Sunset Beach, 1 block from beach access! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available online. Otherwise, email the property management company before you book the property. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
  • If there's an individual Wrightsville Beach destination you are crazy about, keep an eye out for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .

Some things to know before you go:

  • Add the host's contact info to your smartphone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
  • During arrival, make note of any issues with the property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Re-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
  • Leave a review! Property managers rely on great ratings to compel new reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your review find their best vacation home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
