Rental home tips:

When to visit Oak Island & When to reserve a Wrightsville Beach rental home:

  • Summer months are high season in Oak Island. Booking your Wrightsville Beach vacation home in the Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties.
  • In the Wrightsville Beach area, The sooner your group can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved very early. Booking your rental six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Booking websites typically offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Often, rental management companies supply Wrightsville Beach area visitors guide magazines which often include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Wrightsville Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Finding the best vacation home in the Wrightsville Beach area:

  • Begin by selecting a vacation week and a spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Old North State of Mind: Cozy Cottage, Dog Friendly Home with Fenced Yard has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is normally available on booking pages. If not, contact the property management company before booking your home. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You will need to work out what bed configuration is optimal for your vacation family.
  • Are you visiting for a single event? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
  • If your group is bringing pets, filter your search for a property that allows animals. Request details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, property managers charge pet deposits and fees.

Additional considerations:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your phone.
  • To make certain that damages are not linked to your stay, record any problem areas upon your arrival. Contact the property manager immediately to record your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Keep the property locked while you're out! Don't let thieves ruin your trip.
  • At departure, complete a final walk-through to make sure you didn't forget anything. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your group have a wonderful stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
