Tricks and tips for getting the best Wilmington vacation rental experience:

Get the most from your budget:

  • Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • To get the best value, try shifting your vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer great temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your family qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Booking websites frequently offer guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Look for your local Wrightsville Beach area magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines contain offers and deals for local accommodations and attractions.

How to choose the best vacation rental in Wilmington:

  • Choose a group leader, choose your trip dates, and choose a spending budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Mid-town Wilmington. Charming and comfortable. has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available on booking websites. If not, reach out to the host before you reserve the vacation property. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is right for your vacation group.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly property. Ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Looking for unique amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking.

Have a wonderful stay:

  • Add the property manager's contact information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your vacation home while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • At Check-in, note any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors disrupting your peaceful home. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Re-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed everything at departure. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your group have a excellent time? Most rental websites make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your property and/or host was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
