Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect vacation property experience:

Get the most from your rental budget:

  • Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are high season in the Wrightsville Beach area. To book the largest vacation home within budget, we suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at Wrightsville Beach restaurants, beaches, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Wrightsville Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family.
  • Property management companies frequently offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Wrightsville Beach area travel guide magazines which include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Narrow your rental Search:

  • Begin by choosing your the best vacation week and a maximum budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Lumina Cottage- 6 bedrooms-kid & dog friendly! has 6 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available online. If they are not listed, reach out to the host before you book your rental. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, search for a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, hosts charge additional pet fees.
  • If there's a particular Wrightsville Beach destination you love, look for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental

Some things to know before you go:

  • Be sure you get the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your . Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents a lot of issues.
  • Keep the property locked while you're gone! Don't let burglars ruin your family vacation.
  • Document any damages to the property at check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are valuable if damages are assessed.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers bothering your peace and quiet. Apply the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Double-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a excellent stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
