Tips to get the best vacation rental experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Ocean Isle Beach. Booking in Fall or Spring months is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Wrightsville Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • The earlier your group can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved early. Reserving your vacation home 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local Wrightsville Beach area magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guides have offers and deals for nearby tours and attractions.

Use filters to narrow your search:

  • To start, have your group agree to vacation dates and a max budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your group needs. Canal Home in the heart of OIB has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available online. If they are not listed, contact the host before reserving the home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds. You'll need to determine which bed configuration is right for your family.
  • Is your group looking for special amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
  • If your group is bringing pets, filter your search for a rental that allows animals. Ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.

Advice for your stay:

  • Take a copy of the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your . Store the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • To ensure that damages are not attributed to your family's visit, inspect the property for any problem areas upon check in. Contact the property manager right away to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers disrupting your peace and quiet. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Keep the property locked while you're gone! Don't let thieves ruin your holiday.
  • Re-check the property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent reviews to drive future bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your experience find their best vacation home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
