How to find the best Oak Island vacation property experience:

When to visit Oak Island & When to reserve a rental home:

  • In the Wrightsville Beach area, The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked early. Reserving your rental home six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
  • Summertime is high season in Oak Island. Booking your vacation rental in the Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
  • Hosts sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your group.
  • Property managers frequently offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Often, property management companies supply Wrightsville Beach area visitor guides which will include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Wrightsville Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Finding the best vacation home in the Wrightsville Beach area:

  • Select your dates and spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Blue Heron: Home with Pool, Elevator, Close to Beach has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly available online. Otherwise, contact the property manager before reserving your home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds. You'll need to establish what is suitable for your group.
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or might be applied to your contract.
  • Does your family require special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .

Some things to know before you go:

  • Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are out, just like you would back home.
  • During arrival, note any issues with the property and immediately contact the owner. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors bothering your peaceful home life. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Double-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at departure. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental a final time and scan for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a great time? Most rental managers make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
