Tips to get the very best rental experience:

How to get the best rental value:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Wrightsville Beach area. Reserve your vacation in the Spring or Fall to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some property managers offer special rates for veterans. Ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your group.
  • Property managers often offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Find a copy of your local Wrightsville Beach visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guides contain money saving offers on local accommodations and attractions.

Planning, selecting, and booking a perfectrental home:

  • To start, have your group decide on the best dates and a budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. 316 Sunset Haven by Sunset Vacations has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is generally available online. If you don't see them listed, email the property owner before reserving your home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to determine what is best for your vacation family.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
  • Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or applied to your contract.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property.
  • Upon check-in, note any damages to the property and immediately contact the owner. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of problems.
  • Be a good neighbor. Often, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Lock your vacation home while you're out. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • When it's time to leave, take a final walk-through to make sure you didn't leave anything behind. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on good ratings to drive new bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your experience find their best vacation home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
